Jonathan Borthwick was born in 1990 in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. He has gown up an expat, following his family around the globe from South Africa to Singapore in his youth. In 2009 Jonathan moved to Houston, Texas where he would begin working in the offshore industry. To this day he holds a full time position at a Marine Salvage Company based out of Galveston, Texas.
In 2016 he began drawing and producing early social and political commentry works in the form of cartoons. As a self taught and unemployed illustrator, Jonthan has had the luxury of not having to actually take his drawing seriously. For good or ill, he has arrived at his unique style in an entirely indepedant way. His works are inspired by his career, friendships, travels and the social and political landscape of the United States.
His works are occasionally shown in galleries in Houston, as well as online literary magazines in the United States.
